We have been working in Unit 7 of the Fusion book. We have completed 7.1, 7.2, as well as 7.3. This week, we will focus on the completion of 7.4, Magnetism, as well as Lesson 7.5, Electromagnetism. We will work in the classroom together in the Fusion book, as well as complete some labs at the counters. The labs will be collected and graded. As we navigate through the Fusion book, various items will be assigned in class and extra credit opportunities will arise.
All assessments for the remaining school year are open book, partner, and class consensus. With one exception: There will be a Final Exam in science this year. This will be a test for which the students will need to study - a review sheet will be provided. Final Exam Dates: Monday May 23 (A Group) and Tuesday May 24 (B Group)

In this activity, you will be assigned one of the four major geologic eras to research using the text and online resources. You will take notes on some of the defining events of your assigned era, as well as make sketches of some of the organisms that existed. After completing the notes, you will be provided one panel of a four-square graphic arts presentation of the four eras. The class will vote on the finalist panels. Finalists will win a prize.
Directions for Project
The Era Project
The Notes – REQUIRED, worth 15 points
Notes will be presented as a group – Pick the best set to read aloud to the class
The Art Panel – OPTIONAL – entered into our competition
What you do first – Pick Your Favorite Era
Second – Take notes from the book on your era
- Things like Events that happened (geologic, climate, atmospheric)
- Life Forms (plants, animals, extinctions)
- Try to find two to three things extra that the book did not say
- Sketches of how the continents looked
- Sketches of mountain ranges or other geologic features
- Sketches of the types of animals or plants in that Era
- Includes a summary of your notes, sketches and uses color
